From pasture raised (rotated to FRESH pasture twice a week) hens in MN, fed transitional organic, no soy feed. During the winter, pasture is limited for us. The hens will be in winter housing and access to an outside yard. The hens are also supplemented with hay during the winter.
When our hens first start to lay, they tend to lay smaller eggs. These first eggs are creamier because of the higher yolk to white ratio. Traditionally, they are thought to offer more nutrition. A great bite size snack or for the smaller appetites.
